Looking for The One

This Valentine’s Day we are taking a look at how some of the house hunters who are completing this month found and fell in love with their perfect property match...

Everyone knows that finding ‘The One’ can be an exciting, emotional and sometimes frustrating process. While some house hunters experience love at first sight, others have to kiss a few frogs before they find their prince! Finding the right property is only the start of it – getting to completion can be a rollercoaster ride and, for some, it proves to be a true test of their keenness to commit to the property that has stolen their heart.

“The course of true love never did run smooth.” William Shakespeare.

Never mind A Midsummer Night’s Dream, making their much needed move more closely resembled a nightmare at times for House Hunters #1. Selling their current home proved to be challenging with buyers dropping out of the purchase. Then, after securing a solid sale, the property they had set their heart on was removed from the market. Going back to the drawing board, we persuaded them to view a bungalow that they otherwise would never have considered. It turned out to be just what they were looking for! Fast forward eight weeks and the time has now arrived for them to collect the keys to their new home!

“As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it.” Steve jobs.

House Hunters #2 were searching for a future-proof property in an area they could really feel at home in. After viewing a variety of properties through our Bognor office, none of which were right for them, we urged them to widen their search to Selsey. They viewed many properties with us but when they walked into the last one, it was The One! There really is a lot to be said for that feeling you get when you walk through the door of a property and it just feels right. Later this month they’ll be collecting the keys!

"Grow old with me! The best is yet to be." Robert Browning.

Looking to move to the next rung of the property ladder, House Hunters #3 liked the location of their current home but had outgrown it. After trying unsuccessfully to purchase a property that initially caught their eye, they were back to square one. They spotted a three bedroom semi-detached house on the same street that they already lived on. Although it was slightly above their budget, they loved it and could see it as their forever home. With a little help from family, they were able to secure the purchase and will be collecting the keys to their new home this month!

As estate agents, we work as matchmakers, trying to find the perfect buyers for the properties we are selling, and the perfect properties for the applicants we have registered. Every sale, as with any love story, is unique with challenges to overcome, the occasional plot twist and, eventually, a happy ending. It is not always easy, but it is always worth it.

A final quote to end on and hopefully some words of comfort for those currently in the process of buying their next property...“I wonder how many people don't get the one they want, but end up with the one they're supposed to be with.” Fannie Flagg.
